Before going into the water treadmill your horse will have mud/dirt removed, feet picked out and disinfected. We wash the legs in anti bac/anti fungal solution and tail fastened up.
We progressively increase the water and time on the treadmill. It usually takes 4-6 sessions to get to the maximum water height, which is over the knee and hock.
All about gaining your horse’s confidence. We take our time to load a horse and get them used to walking on the belt, then we walk them off and reload again, and this time add a splash of water.
We increase the water to step height.
Sessions 1 & 2 are the same for all horses.
Each horse is an individual, depending on their acceptance and fitness levels we progressively increase the water each session.
What happens once we reach optimum height?
The length of time your horse walks in deeper water increases as does the speed as their stamina, flexibility, fitness and muscle tone improve.
(we only get to this height if horse is able to cope with the depth physically and mentally ..rehab cases may be different)
After the session the water is slowly drained and the horse is guided out.
We wash off, rinse in anti bac/anti fungal solution, scrape of excess water
You can either bring your horse for a day session or we offer water treadmill livery.
